“Conner’s Law,” an effort led by Rep. Brenden Jones, has been approved by the General Assembly and is heading to Governor Cooper’s desk. This bill ensures criminals who shoot at police officers will receive jail time and increases the death benefit paid to the families of fallen officers.
The bill was named after State Trooper Kevin Conner, who was senselessly killed at a traffic stop in 2018.
