North Carolina Adds Over 137,000 Jobs in 2019

Last week, the North Carolina Department of Commerce released their jobs figures for the 2019 jobs cycle. The results confirm what we already know: The Republican-led reforms of our business climate are working.

From December 2018 – December 2019, the number of employed North Carolinians increased by 137,509. The unemployment rate held strong at 3.7%, reflecting the strength of our state’s economy.

The November Commerce Department report also noted that unemployment rates are down in 92 of North Carolina’s 100 counties, with 91 counties reporting unemployment rates below 5%, and no counties reporting an unemployment rate above 10%.

The prudent policies and strategic investments of this General Assembly have proven once again to be part of the engine that is driving economic growth and increasing employment opportunities in North Carolina.
