Lee Zachary

District 73

Forsyth, Yadkin

Aside from college, law school and a stint in the US Navy on a minesweeper during the Vietnam Conflict, Zachary has been a lifelong resident of Yadkinville. He has practiced law for 38 years and has been active on various boards and foundations. The current President to the 23rd Judicial District Bar, Zachary has also served as past president of the District Bar, President of the Yadkin County Bar, and the NC Bar Association Small Firm and General Practice Council. Zachary has been an active Republican all of his life. The elder son of Walter and Mary Jo Zachary, Zachary was employed as an intern for James Broyhill, as Publicity Coordinator for Vinegar Bend Mizell, and as Chief of Staff for Bill Graham. In addition, Zachary served as the Northwest NC Chair for George H. W. Bush for President and as an appointee of Governor James Martin to the NC Department of Transportation. Locally, Zachary has been elected Mayor of Yadkinville, Town Commissioner and local Precinct Chair. During all of this time, Zachary has been keenly aware of the issues affecting this area. Zachary declared, “As a native, I am well familiar with the people, problems, assets and needs of this District. In particular, I am interested in working to promote job growth in this District, which has missed out on the growth experienced by some of our neighboring counties, and in supporting our educators in their efforts to prepare our children to prosper in this new economy. I feel well prepared to make our concerns known in Raleigh and it would be my privilege to do so.”
