Raleigh, NC – The North Carolina House Republican Caucus is proud to announce that Anna Ferguson has been selected as the Republican nominee to represent House District 119 in the North Carolina House of Representatives.
Ferguson was chosen by the Republican parties of Jackson, Swain, and Transylvania counties following the passing of longtime Representative Mike Clampitt in March 2026. She will serve the remainder of Rep. Clampitt’s term and will appear on the ballot in November 2026.
Speaker Destin Hall said, "Congratulations to Anna Ferguson on her win. The people of Jackson, Swain, and Transylvania counties have chosen a dedicated advocate to represent their district. I look forward to working with Anna in the North Carolina House to continue advancing policies that support western North Carolina and our entire state, including our ongoing efforts to help our neighbors recover and rebuild from Hurricane Helene."
Ferguson is a Western North Carolina businesswoman and member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians. Raised in the Qualla Community between Whittier and Cherokee, her roots run deep in the region, with family ties stretching back generations to Haywood County. She earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from North Carolina State University before returning home to work in her family’s long-running electrical contracting business, eventually taking on a management role. Her professional experience expanded into entrepreneurship when she and her sister opened a retail store in Cherokee under a family brand and later branched into short-term rental management, giving her firsthand experience navigating payroll, regulation and the challenges of a tourism-driven economy.
