Lindsey Prather: Tax Relief “Will Do NOTHING” for North Carolinians

House Republicans passed constitutional amendments to cap the state income tax at 3.5% and stop runaway local property tax hikes crushing families and seniors.

Rep. Lindsey Prather (D-Buncombe) voted NO on both. She even claimed these protections “will do NOTHING to help North Carolinians.”

Instead, Prather wants more of your money in the pockets of bureaucrats in Raleigh and Asheville. While Buncombe County homeowners face massive sticker shock from newly assessed property values — with some jumps of 100% or more — and the county proposes a MASSIVE property tax increase above revenue-neutral for 2027, Prather opposes the very limits that would protect her constituents.

She’d rather protect big government spending than deliver real tax relief to working families, homeowners, and small businesses in Buncombe County and across North Carolina.
